Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) is one of two seaplane operators in the Maldives. Home to the World’s largest fleet of seaplanes, TMA operates from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Male’, the main international airport.
With a fleet of 45 twin otter series seaplanes with a capacity of 15, including 3 Viking DHC-6’s, TMA provides flights to over 60 destinations in a substantial area of Maldives, and carries over 900.000 passengers per year, and is one of the most convenient modes of travel to a islands and resorts. They have also introduced air-conditioned luxury aircraft in April 2016.
TMA encompasses three terminal buildings, along with a café’ that offers lovely snacks and drinks, and also a boutique for a bit of light shopping while you wait for your flight. Once passengers arrive they will be directed to the waiting loungeThe lounges include dedicated VIP and CIP rooms, outdoor decks, free Wi-Fi and many other amenities to make your usually short wait at the airport enjoyable. Once Flights are ready the passengers will be escorted to the boarding gates.
Due to the nature of taking off and landing on the water itself, TMA conducts flights from sunrise to sunset; there are no flights at night.
